Richard Mattiaccio has over three decades of experience as arbitrator and as lead counsel in complex commercial, intellectual property (IP), shareholder/partner, and executive employment disputes in U.S. domestic and international arbitration and in cross-border litigation in federal and state courts. He has served as chair, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in well over 100 complex cases since he began to keep track in CY 2000, and he has issued over 50 reasoned awards. His experience has included complex commercial and international cases conducted in New York, London and Toronto under AAA/ICDR, ICC and CPR Rules, and ad hoc arbitration including recent service as tribunal president in an international ad hoc oil and gas arbitration seated in Houston.

A Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, and NADN Distinguished Neutral, Richard brings to cases a nuanced and practical approach to dispute resolution. He teaches International Commercial Arbitration at Fordham Law School and has acted since 2017 as Co-Director of the one-week Columbia Law School – CIArb NY Branch Comprehensive Course on International Arbitration.

Richard has been serving in thought leadership roles in the New York arbitration community for over a decade, including as Chair of the New York City Bar Association International Commercial Disputes Committee (ICDC), Chair of the CIArb New York Branch, Co-Chair of the inaugural, 2019 New York Arbitration Week (NYAW), and as a founding director, Executive Committee member and Vice-Chair of the New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC).
